New School Project - May 2026

I’m feeling euphoric after completing the most wonderful mosaic project last week at Rodings Primary School.

The theme was about connections with the local countryside and the 10 local parish churches.  I worked with the amazing Jeanette Sylvester and Debra Coates-Reynolds for a day with all the children in the school on their designs, and the results were fantastic.   I came away with a huge stack of lovely paintings, and took as many elements as possible, to combine them into designs for 2 mosaics. There were several themes that recurred – the 4 seasons, tractors, fields, deer, birds, benches and fences, churches and windmills.  As always, I wanted the final designs to be as true as possible to the childrens’ original drawings and to reflect their charm, character and talent.

I had a week working in school, and all the key stage 2 children had a session working on sections of the mosaics. Jeanette also gave me invaluable help for a couple of very long days, teaching and then completing the mosaics.

It is a truly amazing school, with the happiest vibe about it, and the children were an utter delight to work with.  The whole experience was super hard work, but exhilarating, amazing…. and I’m still buzzing! Photos are in the schools section of my website.

Whilst there, I also worked with a group of ladies from the local parish churches. They came into school for an afternoon to work on designs alongside the children, and I took one of their paintings to adapt into a mosaic they could come and work on during my week in school.
